Rebecca kenyon psychologist and marriage and family therapist

Despite seeming to have it all—spouse, children, job—you find yourself wondering if this is all that life has in store for you. You feel that you’ve reached your dreams only to find them lacking. Marriage and motherhood aren’t what you envisioned they would be, and you start to wonder if you’re just doing it all wrong.

Therapy for Moms & Couples

Hi, I’m Dr. Rebecca Kenyon and I’m here to help you navigate the stresses and challenges that come with motherhood and marriage. I help moms, working moms, and couples regain confidence, connection and compassion. I truly believe we are all doing the best we can with the tools and resources we have, but we can use some sharpening of our tools from time to time. My job is to assist you in cleaning off the rust from your current tools; and guide you in developing additional tools and resources when needed.

Personal Experience

In addition to having 20+ years’ experience as a therapist, I also have been married for over 20 years and I’ve been a mom for over 10 years. I can relate to the push/pull of motherhood, marriage, and career. I’ve experienced my own moments of guilt and doubt and have used those to grow and thrive.

Professional Experience

I’m licensed in California as a Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT 40848) and Clinical Psychologist (PSY 24338). My educational background includes a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from San Diego State University with summa cum laude distinction; a Master of Arts degree in Marital and Family Therapy (MFT) from United States International University; and a Doctor of Psychology degree in MFT at Alliant International University. I was honored with both the Outstanding Master of Arts in MFT and Outstanding Doctor of Psychology in MFT awards.

For several years, I’ve helped transform women’s relationships with their selves, others, and their bodies. I’ve also been trained extensively in Gottman Method Couples Therapy and Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy.

In addition to my private practice, I’m a professor and the Director of Clinical Training for Point Loma Nazarene University’s Master’s in Clinical Counseling program. My position at Point Loma Nazarene University and my supervisor experience gives me the privilege of facilitating the training and growth of the next generation of therapists.

I Can Help!

My education and experience as a therapist paired with my real life experience of marriage and motherhood have led me to identify and develop tools that can help other mothers and couples thrive. I’m a trustworthy and compassionate guide who is here to help you fully embrace yourself, your relationships, and the work that you do.
